Travel pharmacy checklist

In principle, the first-aid kit should contain all the medicines that are part of the medicine cabinet, supplemented by medicines for typical travel ailments. The exact composition of the first-aid kit depends on the type of trip (e.g. trekking tour, diving or beach holiday), the destination and the medical care available in the holiday destination. We will be happy to advise you on putting together a personalised first-aid kit.  

Medicinal products

  • Painkillers and antipyretics
  • Medication for diarrhoea
  • Medication for colds, sore throats, coughs and colds
  • Ear drops (especially for diving holidays)
  • Decongestant nasal spray (relieves pressure equalisation when travelling by plane)
  • Eye drops for dry eyes
  • Medication for allergies
  • Medication for sunburn, insect bites or itching
  • Medication for travel sickness
  • Medication for digestive problems, e.g. heartburn or constipation
  • Disinfectant
  • Wound and healing ointment
  • Medication for sports injuries / cooling compresses
  • Medication for cold sores
  • Digital clinical thermometer (especially in malaria regions)
  • All individually required medication in sufficient quantities


Dressing materials

  • Elastic bandages and gauze bandages
  • Adhesive plasters, quick dressings and blister plasters
  • Sterile wound compresses and burn dressing packs
  • Safety pins and (tick) tweezers
  • Scissors (do not carry in hand luggage when travelling by air)
  • Disposable gloves


For long-distance travel possibly additionally

  • If prescribed by a doctor: broad-spectrum antibiotic and antimalarial (prescription only)
  • Mosquito net
  • Drinking water sanitiser


Also helpful on holiday

  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen and skin care after sunbathing
  • Earplugs against noise
  • Compression stockings if travelling by air
  • Condoms
