Focus on oncology
In addition to general pharmacy, we also focus on the care of oncological patients. We produce customised cytostatic solutions in our clean room laboratory.
Our sterile laboratory guarantees precise compliance with the highest safety standards, optimised processes and the highest product quality. In close co-operation with the treating physicians, we constantly strive to further improve the care of patients diagnosed with cancer.
On this page we would like to inform you about the production of the infusion solutions that you receive as part of your chemotherapy.
Your doctor defines the therapy
The solutions are ordered from us at the pharmacy via your doctor.
Your doctor will determine the therapy after a thorough examination. It is very important to determine your weight and height. The body surface area, KOF for short, is calculated from your weight and height. Your doctor and we need this to calculate the correct dosage. Your doctor will also determine whether your blood count is good so that chemotherapy can be started.
Calculating the optimum dosage
Once your doctor has decided which therapy is to be used, this is usually ordered from us one day before the start of therapy. The practice sends us your personalised treatment plan, which contains all the details of the chemotherapy. The composition of the solutions is first entered into our computer for preparation. The calculated dosage is also checked for plausibility in order to avoid possible over- or underdosing due to transmission errors.
Cytostatic drugs are active substances with a very narrow therapeutic range. This means that at the slightest overdose, the dose enters the toxic range and the side effects become more serious. To prevent this, we recalculate all dosages with the help of our programme. If there is a deviation, we immediately consult with the practice.
At the end of the month, you will receive an invoice from us by post for the amount of the prescription charges incurred, which you can pay by bank transfer or in cash when you visit the Rosen Apotheke . We also offer you the option of giving us a direct debit authorisation to debit the amount due from your account.
If your individual co-payment limit (=2% of your gross annual income or 1% after recognition of a chronic illness) is reached, the health insurance company will issue you with a certificate stating that you no longer have to pay any prescription fees (surgery fees, medication, travel costs, etc.) for the rest of the calendar year. Please inform us immediately when you receive your exemption from co-payment. You can also present your co-payment exemption card once at the registration desk of your doctor's surgery for forwarding to our pharmacy.
You will receive the original prescription and a copy of the prescription stamped and signed back from us. We will also send you an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company.
Of course, we can also make billing easier for you: you authorise us to bill your health insurance company directly by means of a ‘declaration of assignment’. This means that you no longer have to make any advance payments. If you are entitled to ‘Beihilfe’ (state/federal/post civil servants' health insurance), we can also take care of these billing channels for you. If you are interested in this convenient option, our accounting department will be happy to help you.
